La tendencia posmoderna implica la reconsideración de posibilidades históricas, la simultaneidad de actitudes divergentes, la hibridación de estilos, soluciones eclécticas y la desconfianza en el desarrollo. Desde un punto de vista etimológigo y más aún histórico, la postmodernidad es una situación que se da después de la modernidad. Sin ambargo, en Bolivia coexisten ambas al mismo tiempoy desde hace más de cincuenta años. Entre ellas surge una interesante tensión de la que ambas se nutren.

RETORNOS AL AYER
Propuestas estéticas indiferentes al supuesto progreso linear de las artes hacia un futuro utópico, y que muestran claras referencias a la historia del arte. La obra adquiere una interesante dimensión atemporal.

MESTIZAJE E HIBRIDACION
Propuestas estéticas en las que se superponen, a veces de manera muy crasa y efectiva, formas y contenidos de las más diversos orígenes como la época virreinal, figuras precolombinas, íconos católicos y aspectos de la cultura mestiza o chola e imágenes contemporáneas. A diferencia del surrealismo andino, en el que se reconoce la intención de lograr una unidad armoniosa a pesar de los muy diversos elementos constitutivos, en la poética de la hibridación se amalgaman o reúnen las cosas de manera tal que cada una mantiene en gran medida su autonomía de origen y significado a tiempo de generar, en conjunto, nuevos discursos y significados.

MISTICO/RELIGIOSO/SENSUAL
Propuestas estéticas que establecen un nexo entre lo religioso y lo sensual, ya sea erotizando lo religioso o mistificando lo sensual. En ambos casos se logra subvertir la iconografía tradicional y se analizan y cuestionan las instancias de poder que imponen la separación entre ambos factores.

The post-modern trend implies a reconsideration of historical possibilities, the simultaneity of divergent attitudes, the hybridization of styles, eclectic solutions, and a distrust of progress. From an etymological and more, a historical viewpoint, post-modernity is a situation that comes after the modern. Nevertheless, in Bolivia both coexist at this time and have for more than 50 years. Among the two arises an interesting tension from which both feed.

CROSS-CULTURAL AND HYBRIDIZATION
Esthetic offerings which superimpose, at times in a very crass and effective manner, forms and content from the most diverse origins such as the Vice-royal Period, pre-Columbian figures, catholic icons, aspects of the "Mestizo" or "Cholo" mixed race cultures and contemporary images. Differing from Andean Surrealism, in which is recognized the intention of reaching a harmonious unity in spite of the very diverse constituent elements, in the poetics of hybridization the things are joined in such a manner that each thing retains in great measure its autonomy of origin and meaning in time to generate, together, new discourses and meanings.

MYSTICAL/RELIGIOUS/SENSUAL
These are esthetic proposals that establish a nexus between the religious and the sensual, either by eroticizing the religious or by mystifying the sensual. In both cases it is able to subvert traditional iconography and analyses and calls into question the arguments of power that impose a separation between both factors.
